On The Island Apparel
Production authority — everything decorated on our equipment

DTF, embroidery, and laser engraving — all under one roof.

Every garment OTIA decorates is decorated on our own equipment in Huntington, NY. The team that takes your call is the team running the press, the embroidery machines, and the laser. No outsourcing, no surprise quality variance, no finger-pointing when something needs to be fixed.

Most apparel work gets routed to whoever's cheapest that week.

A lot of custom apparel businesses are brokers — they take your order, send it to whichever decorator gives them the best margin that week, and ship you the result. The decoration changes hands, the quality wobbles, and when something's off you're three calls away from anyone who can fix it.

We don't do that. We invested in the equipment and the team because we wanted to stand behind every piece. DTF printing, custom embroidery, and laser engraving are all done in-house on Long Island. If a press needs to be recalibrated, our team does it. If a logo needs a re-digitization, our team does it. If your reorder needs to match the last one exactly, the same machine that ran the last one runs the next one.

Working with us

How an apparel relationship with OTIA actually runs

STEP 1

Send artwork (or have us prepare it)

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) work best, but high-res rasters (PNG, PSD) are usually fine. We'll digitize for embroidery, vectorize for DTF, and clean up any file that needs it before production.

STEP 2

Production runs on our floor

Your job goes onto our equipment with our operators. Same color profiles, same press settings, same QA. DTF, embroidery, and laser all happen in the same building on equipment we own.

STEP 3

Reorders match because they're made in the same place

Saved decoration specs and the same physical machines mean batch 50 looks like batch 1. Color, placement, density, finish — all consistent because nothing in the chain changes.

Common questions

Questions we hear about in-house decoration

What's the difference between DTF, embroidery, and laser engraving?

DTF is full-color heat-transfer printing — best for vivid graphics, photo prints, and detailed art on tees, hoodies, sweatshirts, and any garment that should show vibrant color. Embroidery is stitched thread — best for polos, hats, jackets, vests, and any garment that should look premium and last indefinitely. Laser engraving etches the surface — best for tumblers, drinkware, leather, wood, awards, and any non-fabric item.

What file formats do you accept?

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) are ideal. High-resolution raster files (PNG with transparency at 300 DPI, PSD) usually work fine — we'll let you know if a file needs to be redrawn. We can also redraw or digitize artwork from a lower-quality reference.

How do you match Pantone or brand colors?

We work from Pantone references or brand color guides when provided. For tight matches, we can send side-by-side samples on request before running a full order. Color accuracy is consistent across batches because we use the same color profiles and operators every time.

What's the typical turnaround?

72 hours is our typical production turnaround once artwork is approved. Larger or more complex orders may take longer; rush options available. Sourcing time for apparel depends on stock at our distributors — most popular styles ship to us same-day.
