Direct answer

On The Island Apparel produces custom promotional drinkware — laser-engraved insulated tumblers, stainless travel mugs, pint glasses, growlers, and water bottles — in-house at our Huntington, NY shop on Long Island. We run no minimums (order one tumbler or 500), with a 72-hour standard turnaround on stock items and dishwasher-safe engraving on stainless, glass, and BPA-free plastic. Pricing is flat per piece with no setup fees and no per-color charges.

Six ways Long Island companies use engraved drinkware

Each use case below maps to a real production playbook we run weekly. Every recommendation cites a real product from our catalog — click through to the PDP for full specs and ordering.

Onboarding · client gifts · conference SWAG

Corporate gift tumblers

When a Long Island company onboards a new hire or thanks a long-tenured client, a laser-engraved insulated tumbler is the most-kept item in the SWAG playbook. Pens get lost. Notebooks fill up and get recycled. A 20 oz double-wall stainless tumbler with your logo engraved into the leatherette wrap sits on the recipient's desk for years and shows up in every Zoom call.

We produce these in our Huntington shop on the Polar Camel double-wall stainless body — the same chassis used by national promo programs, finished here with a CO2 laser that burns the logo cleanly into the leatherette without fading, peeling, or scratching off. Because we run no-minimums, you can order one tumbler for a single new-hire welcome kit, or run 250 for an industry conference giveaway. Same line, same finish, same turnaround.

For client thank-you gifts, we typically pair the tumbler with a handwritten card and ship directly to the recipient on your behalf — useful for distributed teams where you don't want to handle fulfillment in-house.

Pint glasses · growlers · branded barware

Restaurant + brewery glassware

Restaurants, breweries, and bars on Long Island use laser-engraved glassware for two reasons: branded service-ware that customers see every time they order, and retail merchandise customers buy and take home. Both jobs need the same thing — clean, permanent branding on glass that survives a commercial dishwasher cycle several times a day.

Laser engraving on glass produces a frosted-white etch in the surface of the glass itself. It does not chip, fade, peel, or wash off, which is the failure mode of every screen-printed or applied-vinyl pint glass. The frosted look reads as premium and pairs naturally with breweries leaning into a craft aesthetic.

We engrave pint glasses, pilsner glasses, beer mugs with handles, 32 oz and 64 oz growlers, and mason jars with logo or full-wrap artwork. For taproom service-ware we typically run 24-piece minimum production batches to keep the per-glass cost reasonable; for retail merch and one-off staff gifts, the no-minimum policy still applies.

Booth giveaways · conference SWAG · branded hydration

Trade show + event tumblers

Trade show booth giveaways live or die on the perceived value of the takeaway. A pen costs less than a dollar and lands in a hotel-room trash bag the same night. A branded 20 oz insulated tumbler costs more per unit but goes home in the suitcase, gets used on the drive back to the office, and shows up on the recipient's desk on Monday morning with your logo on it for the next decade.

For most trade-show programs we produce a mid-volume run (50–300 pieces) of the Polar Camel 20 oz body, engraved with the company logo on the front and either a URL, booth number, or campaign tagline on the back. Turnaround on this size is typically 3–5 business days from artwork approval.

If you're a Long Island company exhibiting at a New York City or regional show, we can produce and deliver directly to the convention center the day before setup — useful when you finalize quantity late or get hit with a last-minute giveaway upsize.

Wedding favors · milestone events · galas

Wedding + corporate event drinkware

For weddings, engagement parties, fundraising galas, and corporate milestone events, drinkware functions as both the night-of pour vessel and the take-home favor. Engraved stemless wine glasses, champagne flutes, and small mason jars personalized with the couple's monogram or the event date have become a category in their own right on Long Island.

Laser engraving works particularly well for this use case because the etched logo or monogram looks intentional and crafted — not slapped on. It does not transfer color onto lips or hands, does not look like a sticker, and the design becomes part of the glass rather than something sitting on top of it.

We typically produce wedding and event drinkware in batches of 50–250 pieces with two-week lead time from final art approval, though we'll quote rush turnaround for last-minute orders. For corporate galas and award nights, the same engraved 20 oz tumbler given to staff during the year doubles as the event favor, which is a clean way to reinforce internal branding.

Milestone gifts · retirements · sales awards

Employee recognition drinkware

When an employee hits five, ten, or twenty years of service, the recognition gift needs to feel proportional to the milestone. An engraved tumbler personalized with the employee's name, hire date, and years of service is one of the most-requested items in our recognition programs — not because it's a tumbler, but because the personalization makes it impossible to confuse with a generic SWAG giveaway.

For sales-achievement awards (President's Club, quota-buster, top-performer-of-the-quarter), we typically produce 40 oz Polar Camel travel mugs with handle and straw, engraved with the achievement designation and the recipient's name. The larger format and integrated handle reads as a more substantial trophy than the standard 20 oz desk tumbler — it photographs well on a recognition wall and it actually gets used at the office, which keeps the achievement visible.

Retirement gifts follow the same playbook with a more sentimental engraving — years of service, department, sometimes a short quote from leadership. We can also produce small-run sets of three or four units for a retirement party giveaway to peers.

Booster clubs · athletic teams · alumni

School + team water bottles

Long Island school districts, varsity programs, club teams, and college alumni groups use engraved water bottles and travel mugs the way they used screen-printed tees a decade ago. The engraved finish holds up to the abuse a team water bottle takes — locker-room drops, dishwasher cycles, throwing it in a duffel — far better than printed graphics, which scratch off within a season.

Booster clubs typically order in batches of 30–80 units sized to a roster: each bottle engraved with team logo on the front and the player's number or last name on the back. For alumni fundraising, we produce branded 20 oz tumblers in school colors with the school crest and graduation year — these sell at homecoming, reunions, and online fundraisers at strong margins for the program.

We also produce coach-recognition pieces and end-of-season banquet awards in the same line as the team water bottles, which creates a cohesive program identity across the season.

Why laser engraving wins on drinkware

Every promotional-drinkware decoration method ultimately competes against laser engraving on three criteria: permanence, perceived value, and dishwasher survival. On stainless steel and glass — the two materials that make up ~90% of the promotional-drinkware category — laser engraving wins all three.

Permanence. Screen-printed tumblers fade within months in a dishwasher. Pad-printed logos scratch off in a backpack. Applied vinyl peels. Sublimation requires a polyester coating layer that can chip. Laser engraving alters the surface of the material itself — on a leatherette-wrapped Polar Camel tumbler, the CO2 laser burns through the colored leatherette to expose the white substrate, producing a tonal mark that is physically part of the wrap. There is nothing on top of the material to wear off.

Perceived value. Engraved drinkware reads as premium because the mark looks intentional and crafted rather than slapped-on. On a desk next to other vendor SWAG, an engraved 20 oz double-wall tumbler is the item that survives the quarterly desk cleanout. This is why we recommend the leatherette-wrapped Polar Camel line for corporate gifting over bare-stainless or printed alternatives — the leatherette engrave is the highest-perceived-value finish in the category.

Dishwasher survival. Polar Camel tumblers and stainless travel mugs are top-shelf dishwasher safe with engraved branding intact. Engraved glassware survives commercial dishwasher cycles — which is why we run a dishwasher-cure validation step on every glassware batch destined for restaurant or brewery service-ware. The engrave produces a frosted-white etch in the glass surface; there is no coating to lift off in heat.

Where laser engraving loses: full-color, photographic, or gradient artwork. Engraving is inherently tonal. If your design depends on color, we offer UV-printing on a limited drinkware line and sublimation on white stainless bodies — message the shop for those options. For logos, monograms, and typographic marks (which is most promotional drinkware), engraving is the right answer.

Made on Long Island

Engraved in Huntington — not subcontracted, not drop-shipped

Our laser engraving floor is in Huntington, New York. The CO2 and fiber lasers are operated by staff on the shop floor — not by a vendor in another state and not by an overseas contractor. This is the physical reason we can commit to a 72-hour turnaround on stock drinkware and same- or next-day rush on most items.

Every Long Island company we work with on drinkware programs talks to the people running the lasers. Artwork questions, color-of-wrap questions, last-minute quantity changes — these get handled in-shop, not routed through a white-label support queue. If you want to come watch your tumblers being engraved, the door is open during business hours.

Drinkware FAQ

Questions we hear weekly from Long Island companies running drinkware programs.

Is there a minimum order for custom drinkware?
No. We engrave one tumbler as readily as we engrave 500. There is no setup fee, no plate fee, and no minimum quantity. One-piece orders for new-hire welcome kits, individual recognition gifts, and personal commissions ship on the same production line as bulk corporate runs.
How does pricing work on engraved drinkware?
Pricing is flat per piece — the engraved unit price depends on which drinkware item you choose (a 16 oz plastic cup starts around $14 per piece engraved; a Polar Camel 20 oz leatherette tumbler starts around $37; a 40 oz travel mug starts around $56). There are no setup fees, no screen fees, and no per-color charges on engraving. For a full price quote on your specific item and quantity, request a quote at /quote or browse the per-item prices on each product page.
What is the turnaround time on custom drinkware?
Standard turnaround is 72 hours from artwork approval for in-stock drinkware (Polar Camel tumblers, stainless travel mugs, plastic cups). Larger runs (over 250 pieces) typically run 5–7 business days. Glassware production runs 7–10 business days because of the dishwasher-cure step we perform on engraved glass to verify durability. Rush turnaround is available on most items — message the shop with your deadline.
Is the engraving dishwasher-safe?
Yes. Laser engraving alters the surface of the material (stainless leatherette, glass, plastic) rather than applying a coating to it, so there is nothing to wash off. Polar Camel tumblers and stainless travel mugs are top-shelf dishwasher safe. Engraved glassware survives commercial dishwasher cycles, which is why restaurants and breweries on Long Island use it for taproom service-ware.
What color is the engraving?
Engraving is tonal, not full-color. On leatherette-wrapped tumblers (the Polar Camel line), the laser burns through the colored leatherette to expose the white core underneath, producing a clean, high-contrast tonal mark. On bare stainless steel, the engrave reads as a frosted silver-grey etch. On glass, the engrave produces a frosted-white etch. If you need full-color drinkware decoration, we offer UV-printing on select items — message the shop for options.
Can I supply my own tumblers or drinkware for engraving?
Yes, with conditions. We engrave customer-supplied stainless tumblers, glassware, and mugs at a flat per-piece engraving rate. The item must be a material we can laser (stainless, glass, ceramic, leather, anodized aluminum, BPA-free plastic — not chrome or mirror-finish stainless, which deflects the laser). We do not engrave items that bear competitor logos or unlicensed brand marks. For supplied items, you assume responsibility for any unit damaged in engraving — we have a sub-1% defect rate but it is not zero.
Do you offer full-color sublimation drinkware?
Yes, on a limited line of sublimation-coated tumblers (typically 16 oz and 20 oz white stainless bodies). Sublimation produces a wrap-around full-color print and is the right choice when your design depends on color, photographs, or gradients. Laser engraving remains the right choice when the design is a logo or monogram and you want a premium, dishwasher-permanent finish. For sublimation orders, message the shop directly — these are not stocked on the standard engraved-tumbler line.
Can I order a sample before committing to a larger run?
Yes. We produce single-unit samples at the standard one-piece engraved-tumbler price. For corporate programs evaluating 100+ units, the sample price is credited toward the bulk order if you proceed within 30 days. Samples ship in 72 hours and let you see the actual engrave depth, the actual font weight, and the actual color contrast on your chosen tumbler body before committing.
Can you engrave custom shapes or unusual drinkware items?
Within reason. Our laser bed accommodates cylindrical items up to roughly 4.5 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall on the rotary fixture (this covers virtually every tumbler, growler, mason jar, and pint glass on the market). For flat items (coasters, glass panels), the bed accommodates up to 24 x 12 inches. If you have an unusual item, send a photo with dimensions to the shop and we will confirm fit before quoting.
Do you offer rush turnaround on drinkware?
Yes. Most stainless tumblers and travel mugs can run on 24–48 hour rush from artwork approval, subject to current shop load. Rush adds a per-piece surcharge that scales with how aggressive the deadline is — message the shop with your deadline and quantity for an exact rush quote. We will not commit to a rush deadline we do not believe we can hit; if the date is too tight, we will tell you up front.
Can I order just one tumbler?
Yes. The no-minimum policy is real and unconditional. Single-tumbler orders for personal gifts, individual recognition awards, and one-off commissions ship at the standard per-piece price with no setup fee added. Order one engraved tumbler the same way you would order one custom t-shirt.
What is your branding policy on customer-supplied items?
We will not engrave competitor logos, unlicensed sports league marks, copyrighted character art, or any mark we have reason to believe you do not have rights to use. If you are a brand authorized reseller engraving items with the parent brand's logo, we may ask for authorization documentation. This protects both your business and ours — the engrave is permanent and a takedown after the fact is not a recoverable situation.
Where is the engraving produced?
All engraving is produced in our Huntington, NY shop on Long Island. We do not subcontract decoration to overseas vendors and we do not drop-ship from third-party engravers. The CO2 and fiber lasers are operated by staff on the floor, which is what makes the 72-hour turnaround physically possible.
