Direct answer

Why DTF Printing for Construction & Trades?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is the right method for construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and contractor crew apparel. It handles large back-of-shirt company branding (logo plus phone number plus license number), full-color art on heavyweight tees and hoodies, and prints cleanly on hi-vis safety colors. OTIA runs DTF in-house in Long Island with no setup fees, no minimums, and same per-piece pricing whether you order for a solo operator or a 40-person crew.

The fit

DTF is the cost-effective method for trades crew apparel. It prints large back-of-shirt company graphics, full-color logos with phone numbers, and hi-vis decoration without screen-print minimums.

Trade crews need apparel that does two jobs: identifies the crew on the job site (so the GC, the homeowner, and the inspector know who's swinging the hammer) and advertises the business on the truck and at the supply house. DTF is the workhorse for both. It prints the large back-of-shirt logo plus phone number plus license number that turns every crew shirt into a billboard. It handles full-color crew art that screen-print would charge per-color setup fees for. It prints cleanly on the hi-vis lime and orange shirts that OSHA-regulated job sites require. And it scales economically from a one-person sub-contractor adding their first branded crew tee to a 40-person mechanical contractor outfitting a new hiring wave. The fabric pick matters: 6oz+ heavyweight ringspun cotton on tees, 50/50 cotton-poly on hoodies for warmth-plus-print-durability, and ANSI-rated hi-vis blanks when the job-site requires reflective. We've run trades programs from solo HVAC techs to multi-trade contractors with rolling 50-shirt-per-quarter reorder cycles; same flat per-piece pricing at every quantity.

FAQ

DTF Printing for construction & trades — what buyers ask

Does DTF hold up on crew shirts through job-site abuse?

Yes on the right blank. We default to 6oz+ ringspun cotton for crew tees — the print holds through dozens of wash cycles, doesn't crack when the shirt is in a crumpled work-bag for a week, and survives the kind of abuse a roofer or HVAC tech puts a shirt through. Lighter blends will start to fail earlier; we'll flag that on the quote.

Can you print large back-of-shirt logos with phone numbers and license info?

Yes. Large back-of-shirt branding is one of DTF's strengths — full-color art, sharp text down to small point sizes, and no per-color setup fee. Standard pattern is logo plus phone number plus license number across the upper back, with a small chest logo on the front.

DTF or embroidery for trades crew apparel?

DTF for crew tees, hi-vis, and any apparel with large or full-color art. Embroidery for owner/manager polos, jackets, and softshells where premium polish matters. Most trades programs use both — DTF for the field crew and embroidery for the office/sales team.

What's the smallest crew shirt order you'll run?

One piece. Genuinely no minimums and same per-piece price at qty 1 or qty 1,000. We commonly run a single fit sample before a new-crew uniform rollout.

Do you stock ANSI-rated hi-vis blanks?

Yes for the common Class 2 and Class 3 hi-vis tees, long-sleeves, and hoodies. Specialty hi-vis (FR-rated, rain-jacket, fleece-lined) we'll bring in special on the quote.

Can you build a new-hire kit we can reorder on autopilot?

Yes. We can lock a 3-5 piece new-hire kit (sized to the hire) and ship it same-week whenever you onboard. Many trades clients run this on a corporate card with no per-order approval.

How fast can you turn around a rush trade-show or sponsor-event order?

Standard turnaround is 5-7 business days. Rush options are 48hr or 72hr on stocked blanks. For trade-show booth crew shirts or sponsor-truck wraps we can usually hit a 72hr window.

Will DTF hi-vis printing keep the OSHA reflectivity intact?

Yes. DTF prints in the body fabric area, not on the reflective tape. We avoid the reflective strips entirely so the ANSI compliance of the garment is preserved.
